How can i sign up for the kūpuna program?

There are TWO ways to sign up:

1) Directly through us:

www.nourishkauai.net/kupuna (currently, there is a waitlist)

2) County of Kauaʻi’s Agency of Elderly Affairs (there are 6 spots available)

Phone: (808) 241-4470

Let them know you are wanting to sign up for Nourish Kauaʻi meal kits through them.

PLEASE NOTE: If you sign up directly through us, you will be put on a waitlist. If you sign up through the Agency of Elderly Affairs, you will be put on our list immediately, but note that you will be giving your information to an outside provider.

The County of Kauaʻi has a contract with us and provides funding for kūpuna outside of our other funders, which is why they have their own direct signup.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes, there is a waitlist if you choose to sign up directly through our website. You will be contacted through your preferred method of communication listed on the application.

delivery questions

Who qualifies for delivery?

If you are homebound and unable to drive due to disability, illness that prohibits all driving or not having a car, we have a volunteer base that will deliver your meal kit to your home.

If I am accepted into the program, what are the times of delivery?

We have 3 delivery times. They are every Wednesday at:

Kapaa: 12:30PM-3:30PM

Lihue: 1-4PM

Koloa/Kalaheo: 1:45PM-4:45PM

If for some reason you do not receive a delivery, please wait after those allotted times to call us to ask why. Our volunteers having routes that range. If the allotted time has passed and you still did not receive a delivery, feel free to text us at 808-359-2769 to let us know and we will reach out to your volunteer.

What if I will not be home for delivery?

If you will not be home for delivery because of a doctorʻs appointment, etc, please leave a cooler outside with ice and we will place your meal kit in the cooler. If you will be missing delivery because you are out of town, etc, please let us know at least 3 days in advance so we know how to accommodate you. Please note that deliveries are ONLY for those who are homebound and unable to drive. If you are not home consistently and are able to drive, we do ask that you pickup your meal kits from one of our 3 locations available.

Is there a penalty for missing a delivery and not notifying?

We have a 2 miss policy. We give grace the first time and notify you. If it happens a 2nd time, you will be removed from the program. Please notify us if there is an emergency outside of your control.

If I am able to drive, can I still have my meal kits delivered to me?

No. We have a very limited amount of volunteers that are able to deliver to individual homes. We reserve deliveries only for those who are homebound, disabled, or those who do not have a car.

MEDICAL/ALLERGY QUESTIONS

I have medical issues that will prevent me from utilizing my meal kit for a time (or have become hospitalized). Can I pause my delivery/pickup until I am better?

Please call us or have someone you know well contact us, and we will work with you on what's best in your specific circumstances.

I have an allergy. Can I request I not receive certain items I am allergic to?

No, unfortunately due to the size of our program, we aren't able to accommodate allergies or preferences. But all ingredients are listed on the recipe, and if there's something you are unable to use, we encourage you to share it with a friend. If you have a large amount of allergies or food preferences, our program may not be a good fit for you.
